Moscow: The Kremlin announced on Sunday its intention to send New Year and Christmas greetings to US President Donald Trump. "As polite people, we will send Mr. Trump our congratulations on Christmas and the New Year," stated Yuri Ushakov, an aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a press briefing.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ushakov's announcement followed an earlier statement by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who indicated that a formal announcement regarding Putin's holiday greetings to Trump would be forthcoming. Ushakov also mentioned that Moscow anticipates all parties involved in the Ukraine peace talks, including the United States, to adhere to the agreements established in previous negotiations, such as the August summit in Alaska with Trump and Putin.

Ushakov's comments were made in response to inquiries about Moscow's expectations for the upcoming talks between Russia and the United States in Miami, Florida, aimed at advancing the settlement process in Ukraine. Russian presidential aide Kirill Dmitriev, who disclosed his visit to Miami on Saturday, reported positive progress in his discussions with US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law and informal adviser Jared Kushner, which are set to continue over the weekend.
