Aden: Yemen's government-aligned National Shield Forces have deployed new troops in the interim capital, Aden, with the objective of reinforcing security and stability in the region.

According to Anadolu Agency, military units arrived in Aden as part of missions designed to enhance security and stability within state institutions. This deployment was announced through a post on Facebook, accompanied by a video, indicating that it is part of organized plans for continued reinforcements.

The National Shield Forces stated that the move is intended to support efforts by Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council and the government to bolster security and maintain social peace. However, the statement did not disclose the number of units deployed, their composition, or the duration of their stay in Aden, indicating only that it is part of broader plans to boost security and stability.

Tensions in the region have been high, following last month's escalation of fighting between the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and government forces backed by the Saudi-led coalition. The clashes resulted in the STC seizing control of Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra in eastern Yemen, near the Saudi border. Subsequently, the National Shield Forces regained control of the two governorates and were deployed in Aden, leading to the dissolution of the STC.

The STC has historically advocated for the secession of southern Yemen, citing political and economic marginalization by successive governments. Nevertheless, Yemeni authorities reject these claims and emphasize the importance of preserving the country's territorial unity, which was established with the unification of North and South Yemen on May 22, 1990, forming the Republic of Yemen.
