China and US Agree to Strengthen Dialogue at Munich Security Conference

Munich: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Friday on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany, Xinhua News reported. The two officials agreed to enhance dialogue and cooperation in various fields, aiming to promote the stable development of China-US relations.

According to Anadolu Agency, Wang Yi emphasized that Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump have provided strategic guidance for the development of bilateral relations. He urged both countries to jointly implement the key consensus reached by their leaders, with a vision of making 2026 a year of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.

Wang Yi highlighted the importance of dialogue over confrontation, cooperation over conflict, and win-win outcomes over zero-sum games. The meeting occurred ahead of President Trump's anticipated first visit to China in his second term in April, signaling a potential step forward in diplomatic relations.

The world's two largest economies have experienced a stabilization in ties since November, following tensions spurred by Trump's imposition of steep tariffs on various countries. Earlier this month, President Trump and President Xi spoke following their face-to-face meeting in South Korea in October, during which Xi issued a warning regarding arms supplies to Taiwan.
