Raqqa: Two people, including a soldier, were killed in an attack carried out by unidentified assailants in the countryside of Syria's northeastern Raqqa province, the Defense Ministry announced.
According to Anadolu Agency, an army member was targeted by unknown gunmen in the village of al-Wasita in the northern Raqqa countryside. This attack resulted in the deaths of the soldier and a civilian, as reported by the ministry's Media and Communications Directorate to SANA news agency.
No further details regarding the incident were disclosed, and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
ISIS sleeper cells are known to be active in the region. The area was previously controlled by the terrorist group in 2014 before being ousted three years later by a US-led international coalition. The region later came under the control of the terror group YPG/SDF before the Syrian Army recently regained control.
