Riyadh: Saudi Arabia offered its condolences to Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates on Monday over the deaths of a number of members of their armed and security forces while performing national duties.
According to Anadolu Agency, in a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed the Kingdom's 'deep sorrow and sincere condolences to the governments and peoples of the sisterly States of Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates' over the deaths of the personnel. The statement underscored Saudi Arabia's solidarity with the two Gulf states, emphasizing its readiness to support any measures they take.
The statement further conveyed wishes for a speedy recovery for those injured. Earlier reports indicated that the UAE lost two soldiers in a helicopter crash, while Kuwait announced that two officers were killed in the line of duty during a wave of attacks targeting multiple locations, including Kuwait International Airport.
Regional tensions have escalated since Israel and the US launched a joint attack on Iran on February 28, resulting in over 1,200 casualties, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as reported by Iranian authorities. In response, Iran has conducted drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
