Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the upcoming US-brokered trilateral peace talks with Russia, initially scheduled for this week, have been postponed due to the ongoing armed conflict in Iran.
According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine's readiness to participate in the talks at any moment, provided the format is conducive to ending the conflict. He highlighted that the current priority for international partners is addressing the situation in Iran, which has led to the postponement of the planned talks at the request of the United States.
Following a meeting with the Ukrainian negotiating team, Zelenskyy reported that Kyiv remains in constant communication with US officials. He instructed the team to reaffirm Ukraine's commitment to collaborative security efforts, particularly in defense against strike drones, and reiterated Ukraine's willingness to work towards a substantive resolution to Russia's ongoing military actions.
Zelenskyy further accused Russia of attempting to exploit tensions in the Middle East to its advantage in the conflict, asserting that such manipulation must be prevented. The peace talks, which involved Russia, Ukraine, and the US, have previously occurred in Abu Dhabi and Geneva, with three rounds already completed earlier in the year.
