Moscow: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Friday discussed the situation with regards to US-Israeli strikes on Iran with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi in Moscow. A statement by the Foreign Ministry highlighted that the meeting included an exchange of views on key aspects of Russia's interaction with the IAEA, acknowledging the country's contribution to the agency's work.

According to Anadolu Agency, particular emphasis was placed on the situation surrounding the US and Israeli attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, which are under IAEA safeguards. The discussions also covered the security of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which has been a topic of international concern. The statement also noted that several other aspects of mutual interest on the international agenda were addressed during the meeting.

Earlier, Grossi held talks with a Russian delegation led by Alexey Likhachev, head of state nuclear corporation Rosatom. The discussions come amid heightened regional tensions following Israeli and US strikes on Iran on February 28, which resulted in hundreds of casualties, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. This incident prompted retaliatory missile and drone attacks from Iran targeting Israel and US interests in the region.
