Beirut: The Israeli army has issued urgent evacuation orders for residents in southern Lebanon, specifically those residing south of the Zahrani River, as airstrikes persist in the region. The directive, announced on Tuesday, urges residents to move north immediately due to escalating military operations.

According to Anadolu Agency, Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee conveyed the warning via a statement issued on the US social media platform X. The evacuation order underscores the increasing volatility in the area, with the region witnessing a surge in hostilities.

The situation has been intensifying since Monday evening when the Lebanese Health Ministry reported a rising death toll from Israeli attacks, which now stands at 886, including 111 children and 67 women. Additionally, 2,141 individuals have sustained injuries amid the ongoing conflict.

The current escalation in the region traces its origins to the US-Israeli military operations against Iran that commenced on February 28. Subsequently, Israel expanded its military initiatives to target Hezbollah in Lebanon, even after a ceasefire had been established in late 2024.
