Spain: Spain's defense minister has asserted that the United States and Israel cannot single-handedly dictate the global order. In remarks made on Tuesday, Margarita Robles emphasized that these nations should not decide the terms of peace or global rules without consulting their allies or the international community.

According to Anadolu Agency, Robles made these statements during a parliamentary commission addressing Spain's stance on the ongoing conflict involving Iran. She expressed concerns about the US and Israel's unilateral decisions in a war she described as 'contrary to international law,' highlighting the necessity for Spain to make strategic decisions rooted in respect for both national and international legal frameworks.

Robles also clarified Spain's prohibition on the use of its US military bases in Rota and Moron, as well as its airspace, for operations related to the Iran conflict since its inception on February 28. She further disclosed that the US had sought permission to use these bases for an attack on Iran without providing essential details about the operation's scope or duration.

The defense minister questioned the motives behind the war, suggesting it could be political, economic, or merely a diversion, and warned about the potential for the conflict to become prolonged and unpredictable. Despite these tensions, Robles assured that Spain's stance does not signify a break in transatlantic relations or its commitment to NATO, and there are no current plans to withdraw US troops from Spanish military bases.

In a related development, US President Donald Trump recently threatened to sever all trade with Spain over its position on the Iran war and its reluctance to cooperate in the attacks. Nevertheless, Economy Minister Carlos Cuerpo confirmed on Monday that diplomatic disagreements have not affected commercial relations between the two nations.
