Brussels: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe Gen. Alexus Grynkewich held talks in Brussels about enhancing Europe's defense capabilities due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. The discussions centered around the need for Europe to increase investment, ramp up production capacity, and enhance speed in response to the Russian defense industry's large-scale production efforts.
According to Anadolu Agency, von der Leyen emphasized the importance of developing an innovative defense industry capable of producing advanced high-end systems and cost-effective technologies. She noted that Europe could leverage Ukraine's battlefield experience and expertise to strengthen its own defense capabilities.
