Israeli Army Declares Northern Areas Closed Military Zone Amid Security Concerns

Rosh hanikra: The Israeli army announced Friday that it has declared the northern areas of Rosh Hanikra and Achziv a closed military zone due to a 'security situation.' The decision, which took effect at 9.20 pm local time (1920GMT), came after a security assessment, and the army warned that entry into these areas is 'strictly prohibited.' The order was signed by Northern Command chief Rafi Milo, highlighting the severity of the situation.

According to Anadolu Agency, air raid sirens have been activated seven times across northern Israel since early Friday, prompted by drone infiltrations and rocket launches from southern Lebanon. The increasing use of Hezbollah drones, especially fiber-optic models that are more challenging to detect, has been a growing concern for Israel in recent weeks.

In late April, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged that Hezbollah's missiles and drones pose two significant threats to Israel. He urged the military to develop solutions to counter these threats effectively. The tension between Israel and Lebanon has been escalating, with Israeli attacks on Lebanon resulting in over 2,950 fatalities, nearly 9,000 injuries, and the displacement of more than 1.6 million people-approximately one-fifth of Lebanon's population-since March 2, according to Lebanese officials.
