Beirut: Hezbollah announced on Friday that it conducted 33 attacks against Israeli forces, targeting military positions and vehicles in southern Lebanon within a 24-hour period. The group emphasized that these attacks were in retaliation to ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement and aggressive actions against civilians and areas in the region.
According to Anadolu Agency, Hezbollah specified that the assaults focused on Israeli troop and vehicle concentrations in the towns of Rashaf, Qouzah, and Hadatha. The group used attack drones, rocket barrages, and artillery shelling to target military bulldozers and troop gatherings in Rashaf. Additionally, Liman and Kiryat Shmona barracks were struck by drone attacks, while Israeli positions in Qouzah and Hadatha were hit with rockets and artillery, with the group claiming "confirmed hits" in several of these attacks.
Earlier on Friday, the Israeli army declared the northern regions of Rosh Hanikra and Achziv as closed military zones, citing the "security situation." This decision followed ongoing air raid sirens triggered by drone infiltrations and rocket fire from southern Lebanon. In recent weeks, Hezbollah's use of fiber-optic drones, which are more challenging to detect, has increasingly worried Israeli authorities.
In late April, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the growing threat posed by Hezbollah's missiles and drones, labeling them as "two major threats" to Israel. He urged the military to devise strategic solutions to counter these challenges.
