According to Anadolu Agency, the match saw England awarded a penalty early in the game due to Luka Modric's foul on Noni Madueke during a corner. Harry Kane capitalized on this opportunity, scoring the first goal for England in the 12th minute. Croatia responded with Martin Baturina's equalizer in the 36th minute, leaving England's goalkeeper Jordan Pickford unable to prevent the powerful strike.

England quickly regained their lead with Harry Kane heading in a corner from Declan Rice in the 42nd minute. However, Croatia's Petar Musa equalized once more just before halftime, assisted by Ivan Perisic's precise pass.
