Ukraine Sees ‘Concrete Results’ on Air Defense at NATO Summit

Ankara: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced significant progress in enhancing Ukraine's air defense systems during the 36th NATO summit held in Ankara. Speaking to Ukrainian journalists, Sybiha emphasized the priority of air defense for Kyiv, highlighting a shared understanding among NATO allies.

According to Anadolu Agency, Sybiha noted that the discussions at the summit resulted in tangible decisions aimed at strengthening Ukraine's air and anti-ballistic capabilities. These decisions stemmed from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's meetings during the summit, with further announcements expected in the near future.

Sybiha also reflected on the NATO-Ukraine Council working dinner, describing it as notably united in terms of the messages conveyed and evaluations shared with partners. The council assessed the battlefield situation, with Sybiha suggesting that the ongoing conflict is increasingly pressuring Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Zelenskyy attended the two-day summit, which focused on defense spending commitments, military support for Ukraine, and expanding defense industrial production. The summit declaration reaffirmed allies' support for Ukraine's sovereignty, pledging £70 billion ($80 billion) in military aid, equipment, and training in 2026, with commitments to sustain similar levels in 2027.
