Egypt: The US military said Thursday: that its forces have helped ensure the safe passage of more than 800 commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz since early May.
According to Anadolu Agency, US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that since early May, US forces have facilitated the successful transit of more than 800 commercial vessels, along with 380 million barrels of crude oil, through this critical international trade corridor. This update comes amidst a fragile truce between the US and Iran, which faces renewed pressure.
Despite the ongoing volatility, shipping traffic through the waterway has continued. The situation in the region has been tense, as Iran and the US exchanged attacks over the past two days. This escalation followed Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
In retaliation for a second consecutive day of overnight US attacks, Iran launched a series of strikes Thursday targeting US military infrastructure in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Jordan.
