Ankara: Iran is unlikely to soften its negotiating position in response to new rounds of US military strikes, The Washington Post reported Tuesday, citing intelligence assessments.

According to Anadolu Agency, analysts at US intelligence agencies have reportedly concluded that Tehran and Washington are, for now, 'stuck in an indefinite limbo between peace and war,' as stated by US officials. Intelligence analysts emphasized Tehran's resilience despite losing many top leaders and significant military hardware due to US and Israeli attacks.

The report highlighted that US President Donald Trump's expanding military actions have resulted in a stalemate, making the conflict with Iran increasingly unpopular among the US public. It further noted that any continued escalation by Washington, such as deploying ground troops, carries political risks for the president, with no guaranteed military success.

The situation unfolds amid rising regional tensions and exchanges of attacks between the US and Iran. The latest escalation follows a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed in June, aimed at ending the conflict and achieving a lasting peace agreement.

Jonathan Panikoff, former deputy US national intelligence officer for the Near East, remarked that the Trump administration seems to believe increased military pressure will eventually make Tehran more flexible. "That assessment is almost certainly incorrect," Panikoff stated, adding that the US has limited viable options. He predicted ongoing significant flare-ups in the conflict, with periods of calm followed by renewed fighting.
