El obeid: Two people were killed and others injured when a drone attack by Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) hit a hospital in El Obeid, North Kordofan state, a medical group said Thursday. The Sudan Doctors Network reported that two individuals died inside the emergency department of El Obeid Hospital after being struck by shrapnel from an RSF drone launched at the city Wednesday, according to a statement posted on the US social media platform X.

According to Anadolu Agency, the incident underscores the ongoing danger faced by civilians due to attacks on populated areas. The Sudan Doctors Network stated it "categorically rejects the targeting of civilians, facilities and civilian installations using guided drones," noting that such attacks took place on Wednesday and Thursday across several states.

The network labeled these attacks as violations of international humanitarian law, highlighting the impact on civilian lives and threats to essential facilities, including medical centers. They demanded an urgent cessation of attacks on residential areas and civilian infrastructure.

The medical group also appealed to the international community to exert pressure on RSF leaders to halt attacks on civilians, safeguard residents, and hold accountable those responsible for violations. The sustained conflict in North, West, and South Kordofan states, involving the Sudanese army and the RSF, has been ongoing since October 2025.

Sudan has been mired in conflict between the army and the RSF since April 2023. The war has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands and displaced approximately 13 million people, according to UN and international estimates.
