Marib: Emergency forces associated with Yemen's internationally recognized Aden-based government said Tuesday that they had shot down a Houthi suicide drone that attempted to strike a military camp in the central province of Marib.

According to Anadolu Agency, emergency forces announced via a social-media post that air-defense systems at Marib's Al-Thaniyah Camp had successfully intercepted a Houthi suicide drone that was attempting to target the camp. An image was also posted, purportedly showing the drone engulfed in flames after being downed.

Yemen's Ansar Allah group, commonly referred to as the Houthis, has yet to issue any statements regarding the reported incident. The group, backed by Iran, overran much of Yemen in 2014, including the capital, Sanaa, leading to a protracted conflict with Yemeni government forces supported by a Saudi-led coalition.

Since the onset of the Israel-Gaza conflict in 2023, the Houthis have increasingly engaged in regional hostilities, conducting missile attacks on Israel and Israel-linked commercial shipping in the Red Sea. This escalation, alongside the ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, has heightened concerns over the potential resurgence of full-scale conflict in the region.
