Ankara: Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani described Trkiye as a 'key partner' in Syria's reconstruction during his official visit to Pakistan. In a statement to local media on Thursday, Al-Shaibani addressed Syria's strategic alliances and future collaborations. According to Anadolu Agency, Al-Shaibani was asked about the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, which was recently signed by Trkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. He stated that Syria is considering its stance on joining this alliance and that a decision would be made in due course. He reiterated the significance of Trkiye in Syria's reconstruction efforts, noting the extensive border and historical ties shared by the two nations. Al-Shaibani also conveyed a message to Iran, urging Tehran to acknowledge its past actions towards the Syrian people. He commended Pakistan's role in facilitating dialogue between the US and Iran but mentioned that Islamabad has not yet offered to mediate between Syria and Iran. During his visit to Pakistan, Al-S haibani described the outcome as 'successful,' highlighting agreements to reestablish a joint ministerial commission, maintain direct flights, and establish a business council and investment forum. He emphasized the shared views and aspirations between Syria and Pakistan, announcing plans to upgrade Syria's diplomatic representation in Pakistan to the ambassadorial level. Addressing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Al-Shaibani called for dialogue to resolve disputes and urged Afghanistan to prevent any threats or terrorist activities from being launched from its territory against neighboring countries, specifically Pakistan. Regarding Syria-Israel relations, Al-Shaibani stated that it was premature to discuss any strategic agreements with Israel. He underscored Syria's sovereignty and the need to end Israeli attacks, asserting that Syria's foreign policy would prioritize reconstruction, economic cooperation, and strengthening ties with regional and international partners.
