Brussels: The total market production index experienced a minor decrease in the European Union and the euro area during June, with a 0.1% dip in the EU and a 0.2% decline in the euro area on a month-to-month basis.
According to Anadolu Agency, official figures released on Monday by Eurostat revealed that despite the monthly drop, the total market production increased by 1% in the EU and 0.7% in the euro area compared to June of the previous year. This index, which serves as a composite indicator, combines four short-term business statistics encompassing industry, construction, services, and trade volume.
The decline in monthly production was primarily driven by reductions in the construction and services sectors, which fell by 1% and 0.2% respectively. On the other hand, trade volume experienced a modest rise of 0.3% during the month, while the industrial sector remained stable, showing no change in June.
Eurostat's data highlights the varied performance across different sectors within the EU, providing insights into the economic activities and trends impacting the region's overall market production.
