Ankara: The EU's 'Made in EU' approach should take Trkiye into account due to its deep production integration with the bloc under the existing Trkiye-EU Customs Union, the Turkish trade minister said Thursday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Omer Bolat emphasized the importance of implementing the 'Made in EU' approach in a manner that considers Trkiye and its production integration within the Customs Union. Speaking on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, Bolat highlighted Trkiye's commitment to the shared future of Turkish and European industries, aiming to further strengthen economic and commercial relations with Italy.

Bolat underscored that from automotive and machinery to white goods, defense, and aviation, Turkish companies are an integral part of Europe's supply chains. Trkiye and Italy aim to increase their bilateral trade volume to $40 billion by enhancing mutual investment, expanding joint production, and strengthening cooperation in third countries.

He expressed optimism that Trkiye's engagements with Italy would produce favorable outcomes. Bolat is reportedly set to meet with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani in Rome on Friday to discuss the "Made in EU" approach and the need to update the Turkey-EU Customs Union, established in 1995.
