Lourdes:Pope Leo XIV, during his four-day visit to France, urged French bishops on Sunday to persist in their efforts to combat clerical sexual abuse, describing it as a 'scourge.'

According to Anadolu Agency, the pope addressed the bishops in a private meeting in Lourdes, emphasizing the importance of ongoing vigilance in light of years of sexual abuse allegations within the Catholic Church in France.

In his speech, Pope Leo praised the bishops for their determination in confronting the abuse of minors by clergy members or within ecclesial contexts. He encouraged them to maintain their resolve and continue their vigilance while also supporting and encouraging their clergy.
