Yemeni Army Claims 1,540 Houthis Killed or Wounded in 24 Hours

Taiz:The Yemeni army announced that it conducted 474 operations targeting Houthi forces across multiple fronts, resulting in 1,540 Houthi casualties, either killed or wounded, in the last 24 hours.

According to Anadolu Agency, Military spokesman Majed Abdullah al-Nazili reported that the operations involved the use of warplanes, drones, artillery, missiles, and rocket launchers to hit Houthi positions and military capabilities. The fronts involved spanned from southern Haradh and the coast to Kitaf, Al-Jawf, Marib, Al-Bayda, Lahj, Sanaa, and Saada, with a specific emphasis on Taiz.

According to al-Nazili, the operations aimed to neutralize perceived threats, focusing on Houthi gatherings, reinforcements, and command-and-control centers. He claimed that the majority of the casualties occurred on the Taiz fronts and that 216 military vehicles and other assets were destroyed or damaged.

The military operations reportedly halted Houthi advances in Taiz and prevented the group from achieving ground breakthroughs. The announcement is part of an ongoing escalation of conflict in Yemen, which intensified after a relative calm following a 2022 truce. The Yemeni conflict began in 2014 when Houthis seized Sanaa, leading to a Saudi-led coalition intervention in support of the Yemeni government in 2015.
