Damage to Gaza Buildings Reaches 82% in Ongoing Conflict, Reports PCBS

Gaza:Around 82% of buildings in the Gaza Strip have been damaged due to ongoing conflict since October 8, 2023, as stated by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).

According to Anadolu Agency, the PCBS released figures marking World Habitat Day, revealing that approximately 201,290 buildings in Gaza have sustained damage, which constitutes about 82% of all buildings in the region as of June 16, 2026.

The statistics further detailed that 134,422 buildings were completely destroyed, 13,848 experienced severe damage, and nearly 328,627 housing units were affected. The conflict, described as genocidal by the PCBS, has resulted in more than 74,000 Palestinian deaths and over 175,000 injuries. Additionally, around 90% of Gaza's infrastructure has been destroyed, significantly impacting water and wastewater systems.

The agency also highlighted that 82% of Gaza households face water insecurity, with about 70% receiving only around six liters of water per person daily. Despite a ceasefire effective since October 10, 2025, Israeli attacks have resulted in 1,445 Palestinian deaths and 5,072 injuries, according to Gaza's Health Ministry.

Israel continues to impose restrictions on the entry of essential supplies into Gaza, affecting food, medicine, and shelter materials. The population of Gaza, which includes about 2.15 million displaced individuals, totals around 2.4 million.

In the occupied West Bank, the PCBS reported ongoing Israeli attacks and house demolitions since the beginning of the year. Based on the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission's data, there were approximately 341 demolition operations in the first half of 2026, leading to the destruction of 740 Palestinian structures and the issuance of 254 demolition notices due to permit issues.

Since the onset of the Gaza conflict in October 2023, intensified Israeli military activities in the West Bank have included killings, arrests, displacements, home demolitions, land leveling, and illegal settlement expansions.
