Jazan:Jordan and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have condemned the recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, including strikes that targeted airports in the southern part of the country.
According to Anadolu Agency, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi discussed the situation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, expressing Jordan's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia. Safadi emphasized Amman's support for measures taken by Riyadh to ensure its security and stability. He condemned the Houthi attacks, which included attempts to target the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, as well as ongoing attacks on civilian and economic sites.
Safadi also reiterated Jordan's backing of Yemen's internationally recognized government and efforts to resolve the conflict to restore security and preserve Yemen's unity and sovereignty. The conversation between the two ministers also covered regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions in the area.
GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi also strongly condemned the attacks, which targeted King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jazan and Najran International Airport. He labeled these attacks as a 'dangerous escalation' and a 'direct threat' to civilians and air navigation, affirming the GCC's full support for Saudi Arabia's measures to protect its security and territory.
Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that the attacks on the two airports resulted in minor injuries to three individuals and caused material damage.
