Brussels:Around 140 flights are expected to be canceled at Brussels Airport this Friday due to a strike by employees of a ground-handling company, the airport operator announced on Tuesday.
According to Anadolu Agency, Alyzia, a company providing ground-handling services for about 20 airlines at the airport, will have reduced staffing as some employees join union-led protests. These protests are against measures introduced by Belgium's federal government.
The expected cancellations will primarily affect flights handled by Alyzia, including those operated by Brussels Airlines, the airport's main carrier. The FGTB (ABVV) trade union is organizing a national demonstration on Friday as part of the protests against government policies.
Additionally, the industrial action is anticipated to disrupt public transportation across Brussels, with disruptions expected throughout the STIB network.
