French Court Lifts Ban on Pro-Palestinian Rally in Paris

Paris:A French administrative court has suspended a ban on a pro-Palestinian demonstration that was planned to take place in Paris. The ban had been imposed by Paris police chief Patrice Faure at the request of Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, due to concerns over potential public disorder.

According to Anadolu Agency, the court determined that the demonstration did not pose a threat to public order. As a result, the rally, organized by the Urgence Palestine collective under the banner 'against the genocide in Gaza and for respect for the ceasefire,' is allowed to proceed as scheduled.

Faure had originally banned the demonstration, citing significant risks of public disorder, a high terrorist threat, and ongoing antisemitic acts across France. He expressed his responsibility to ensure public safety as the reason for the initial decision to prohibit the rally.
