Dubai:Investors from Dubai are increasingly focusing on Turkey's logistics and rail sectors as the economic relationship between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Turkey expands. This growth in interest follows the implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership agreement between the two nations in 2023.
According to Anadolu Agency, Turkish companies are expanding their presence in the Gulf region, while firms from the UAE are exploring opportunities in Turkey's construction, real estate, food, and healthcare sectors.
Turkey's strategic position as a crossroads between Europe and the Middle East has attracted significant Gulf investment into its transportation networks. This includes strengthening road and rail connections, improving port infrastructure, and establishing new transport corridors to diversify trade routes from the Gulf, through Turkey, to Europe.
Mert Danisger, chief representative of the Dubai International Chamber's Turkey Office, highlighted the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor in the region. He emphasized the need for alternative routes and noted that new railway projects linking the Gulf to Turkey would create a significant logistics route. These projects are expected to facilitate faster and safer distribution of goods from the Gulf to Europe via Turkey and improve access to the Gulf for European products.
Danisger also mentioned that Turkish companies actively participate in international trade fairs in Dubai, with Dubai Chambers aiding their market penetration and supporting cross-border investments. He pointed out that the UAE is a vital economic partner for Turkey, with mutual trade and investments strengthening cooperation, particularly in construction, food, and healthcare sectors.
