UK and Turkey to Strengthen Space Cooperation

Antalya:The UK and Turkey have numerous opportunities to enhance their space capabilities through collaboration, as highlighted by a senior UK Space Agency official during the 77th International Astronautical Congress held in Antalya.

According to Anadolu Agency, Alice Bunn, co-director of the UK Space Agency, expressed that the two countries would be significantly stronger by working together. Bunn welcomed a new cooperation agreement signed between the UK Space Agency and the Turkish Space Agency, which outlines a road map for further collaboration in areas such as science, research and development, technology, and regulations governing space missions and activities in orbit.

The signing ceremony was also attended by British Ambassador to Turkey Jennifer Elizabeth Anderson, whose presence underscored the importance of the partnership. Bunn noted that science and technology often serve as instruments of cooperation between countries, and she expressed excitement about the future steps in their joint efforts.

Bunn also emphasized the critical role of space-based systems in modern society, noting that they are largely invisible in daily life yet essential. She explained that modern life is heavily dependent on space technologies, which are seamlessly integrated into our daily existence.

Commenting on the congress itself, Bunn described the atmosphere as energetic, having participated in an intense but exciting session that brought together global space leaders to discuss potential collaborations. The congress, organized by the International Astronautical Federation, gathers representatives from space agencies, companies, universities, and research institutions worldwide.
