Riyadh:Twelve people lost their lives and 309 were injured in an attack on King Khalid International Airport, Riyadh's main airport, on Saturday, as reported by the civil aviation authority.
According to Anadolu Agency, the deceased included four Saudis, two Bangladeshis, and one national each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Sudan. Many of the injured are receiving treatment in hospitals, with some in critical condition.
The attack also inflicted property damage, and authorities are currently evaluating the extent of the impact. Following the incident, airport operations were temporarily suspended to ensure the safety of the facilities, which led to disrupted flights. Passengers have been advised to confirm their flight status with airlines before proceeding to the airport. Kuwait Airways canceled its Saturday flights to and from Riyadh due to the airport closure.
This attack occurs amid rising tensions after a series of missile and drone attacks by Houthi forces targeting Saudi airports and infrastructure in recent days.
