Taiz:At least six civilians were killed and 18 injured in Houthi shelling of residential neighborhoods and populated areas in Yemen's southwestern Taiz province over the past 24 hours, as reported by the Yemeni government on Tuesday.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Interior Ministry stated that the casualties included women, children, and the elderly. The attacks targeted Taiz city and its surrounding rural areas.
The shelling caused damage to seven residential homes and 12 private vehicles, as well as Al-Safwa Hospital and Al-Saeed Mosque in Taiz city. This incident is part of ongoing Houthi assaults in the region.
Taiz has been a significant battleground in Yemen's conflict, with control of the province divided between government forces and the Houthis. The Houthis have held the national capital, Sanaa, and several other provinces since 2014. The internationally recognized Yemeni government receives support from a Saudi-led coalition that entered the conflict in 2015.
Fighting has intensified in recent months, reflecting a broader escalation between the Houthis, Yemeni government forces, and the Saudi-led coalition.
