Riyadh:South Korea condemned recent Houthi attacks on critical civilian and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia, such as the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Saudi Aramco's headquarters in Dhahran, which have resulted in civilian casualties.
According to Anadolu Agency, Foreign Minister Cho Hyun stated that "attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure can never be tolerated, and such attacks must cease immediately" on the social media platform X.
The condemnation comes amid a surge in Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, with repeated strikes on airports and energy sites. A recent attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh resulted in the deaths of 13 people and injuries to over 300 others. Another attack on the airport killed a Pakistani resident and injured 11 more individuals, while three Saudi nationals, including a pilot, were killed in an earlier attack.
The resurgence of violence in Yemen follows the collapse of a 2022 ceasefire in July. The Saudi-led coalition has been engaged in conflict with the Houthi rebel group since 2015, after the Houthis took control of Yemen's capital, Sanaa, in 2014.
