Istanbul:Slavia Prague managed to secure a dramatic 2-2 draw against Fenerbahce in the UEFA Champions League, coming back from a two-goal deficit thanks to Pavel Kacor's late equalizer. The match took place on Tuesday at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.
According to Anadolu Agency, Fenerbahce, eager to rebound from a heavy 6-0 loss to Aston Villa, started strong with Oguz Aydin opening the scoring in just the fourth minute. Aydin's impressive left-footed strike from outside the box left Slavia's goalkeeper Jakub Markovic unable to prevent the goal despite a touch.
The home team doubled their lead by the 11th minute as Nelson Semedo assisted Mason Greenwood, who confidently finished from inside the box. However, Slavia Prague quickly responded four minutes later when Matteo Guendouzi's misplaced pass allowed Lukas Provod to score, reducing the deficit.
Despite Fenerbahce's continued offensive efforts, including chances by Guendouzi, Aydin, and Vedat Muriqi, they could not extend their lead beyond 2-1 at halftime. In the second half, substitutes Romelu Lukaku and Dorgeles Nene nearly contributed to a third goal, but Markovic's diving save kept Slavia in the match.
As the game progressed, Slavia ramped up their attack with David Zima testing Ederson in the final minutes. Just as Fenerbahce seemed poised to claim their first Champions League victory this season, Kacor, introduced in the 85th minute, scored the crucial equalizer from an Ayaosi cross in the 90th minute.
The draw left Fenerbahce with two points from three matches, while Slavia Prague earned their first point in the league phase.
