Iran Vows Retaliation Against Any US Military Action

Tehran:Iran has issued a strong warning to the United States, declaring that any military attack would be met with retaliation. The announcement comes amid claims that Washington had sent a message expecting Iran not to respond to a potential strike.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei dismissed the notion of a US attack without repercussions as an 'illusion.' He emphasized that Tehran would not leave any military strike unanswered and promised that Iran's response would be at least equal in force if not stronger.

Baqaei also addressed the issue of nuclear negotiations, stating that Tehran has not engaged in talks with the US and therefore has no details to share with Russia or other countries. He stressed that Iran remains committed to its principles and national interests, and rejected any speculation about a softened stance on its nuclear program.

In addition to these statements, Baqaei highlighted the ongoing diplomatic efforts between Iran and Russia. He noted that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's visit to Tehran was planned months in advance and focused on discussing bilateral relations and regional issues, including Iran's nuclear program.

Baqaei further emphasized Iran's commitment to diplomacy despite its distrust of Washington, accusing the US of violating commitments since its withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear agreement. He reiterated that Iran's priority is protecting its national interests through both diplomacy and military defense if necessary.

The spokesperson also criticized a resolution adopted by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) concerning Yemen, which expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia. Iran formally opposed the resolution, arguing that it failed to follow procedural rules and would deepen divisions among Muslim countries. Baqaei advocated for dialogue and reconciliation to resolve the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

Additionally, Baqaei accused Israel’s policies of contributing to regional instability and criticized US and European support for Israel. He mentioned ongoing efforts with Islamabad to resolve border issues caused by technical disruptions, expressing confidence that the situation would be resolved soon.
