US NATO Envoy Clarifies Starlink Dispute in Ukraine Over Company Terms

Brussels:US Ambassador to NATO Matt Whitaker has clarified that a disagreement concerning the use of Starlink satellite internet services in Ukraine is due to the terms of the private company, not a policy of the Trump administration aimed at punishing Kyiv by limiting access to the system.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Whitaker emphasized the commercial nature of the dispute, stating that Starlink, being a private entity, has consistent terms of use applicable to all customers, including those in Ukraine.

Reports have surfaced suggesting that SpaceX founder Elon Musk was responsible for a recent restriction on Ukraine's access to Starlink, which is crucial for Kyiv's communication amid the ongoing conflict with Russia. Whitaker noted that the US government had not denied Ukraine access nor used it as a retaliatory tool.

Starlink, operated by Musk's SpaceX, continues to play a vital role in maintaining communication for Ukraine in its war with Russia.
