Bush Family Members Support Democratic Candidate in Texas Senate Race

Houston:Two prominent members of the Bush family, traditionally associated with the Republican Party, have announced their support for Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico in Texas. This development underscores a significant political shift within the influential family.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Barbara Bush, daughter of former US President George W. Bush, made a financial contribution of $2,500 to Lone Star Rising PAC. This political action committee is backing Talarico, and the donation was recorded in its third-quarter 2026 filing with the Federal Election Commission.

Additionally, Neil Bush, Barbara's uncle, publicly endorsed Talarico via a Facebook post, revealing that he voted for the Democratic state representative in his contest against Republican candidate Ken Paxton. Neil Bush cited concerns about Paxton's tenure as Texas attorney general and expressed admiration for Talarico's commitment to public service.

Neil Bush highlighted Talarico's integrity, civility, humility, and openness to dialogue as qualities he values in public servants. He also criticized Paxton's attempts to contest the 2020 presidential election results in other states, describing these actions as detrimental to democratic institutions and the peaceful transition of power.

He further voiced his disapproval of the Republican Party's current focus on loyalty to individual leaders over core principles, while affirming his belief in traditional Republican values. "Character matters more than party affiliation," Neil Bush stated, emphasizing the importance of integrity in political leadership.
