Sudanese Army Regains Control of Key Military Base in Blue Nile Region

Damazin:Khartoum The Sudanese army successfully recaptured a strategic military base in the Blue Nile region amid ongoing clashes with paramilitary forces. This development marks a significant gain for the army in its conflict with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied groups.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, the army, along with its allied forces, regained control of the Bakori military base, located southeast of Damazin, the regional capital, on Thursday morning. This base had been under the control of RSF and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North since late August.

Bakori, situated approximately 70 kilometers east of Damazin, serves as the headquarters for the army's 13th Brigade under the Fourth Infantry Division in the Blue Nile region. Abdelati Mohamed El Faki, commissioner of Kurmuk County, confirmed that the army had also regained control of the Ouklili area in the northeastern sector of Kurmuk locality, alongside Bakori.

There has been no immediate response from the paramilitary forces regarding the recent developments. The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and RSF, which began in April 2023, has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and displaced around 13 million people, contributing to a severe humanitarian crisis as reported by the United Nations.
