Iranian Parliament Speaker Criticizes US Missteps in Middle East Conflict

Tehran:Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammed Bagher Qalibaf stated that the United States has "entered a quagmire due to its own miscalculations" in its ongoing conflict with Iran. He emphasized that it is the responsibility of Washington to find a way out of the situation.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Qalibaf made these comments during a parliamentary session, as reported by the semi-official Tasnim news agency. He criticized the US for believing that media pressure or military threats could force Iran to submit, asserting that today's Iran is vastly different from the era of the Pahlavi dynasty.

Qalibaf further declared that Iran would not allow any foreign power to dictate terms regarding the nation's honor. His statements came amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following the US-Israel conflict with Iran, which began in late February. The situation remains unresolved despite a ceasefire and a memorandum for a final peace deal, mainly due to disagreements over navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
