Yemeni Army Claims Over 300 Houthis ‘Neutralized’ in New Offensive

Taiz:Yemen The Yemeni army announced that in the past 24 hours, they have 'neutralized' 307 Houthi fighters and commanders through 736 operations, which also resulted in the destruction or damage of 68 military vehicles and weapons.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, these operations were part of the 'Dawn of Yemen' offensive, targeting Houthi command centers, troop concentrations, reinforcements, weapons depots, and supply routes. The army did not disclose the exact number of Houthi casualties in terms of deaths or injuries, and there has been no immediate response from the Houthi group.

In Taiz province, located in the southwest, the army reported striking a command center, heavy weapons positions, and arms depots situated in an abandoned hotel. The army accused the Houthis of repurposing the hotel into an observation and firing position to threaten residential neighborhoods and maintain their siege of Taiz city. Government forces also conducted raids to suppress Houthi fire from the area.

The conflict in Taiz continues, with government forces controlling the city center, while the Houthis have recently advanced in rural and coastal areas. Yemen has been mired in conflict since the Houthis took control of the capital Sanaa and other provinces in 2014, leading to a Saudi-led coalition's intervention in 2015 to support the internationally recognized government. The Houthis currently control much of northern and western Yemen, while government forces and allies maintain control over Aden and significant parts of southern and eastern provinces.
