Azerbaijan Criticizes France for ‘Confrontational’ Rhetoric

Baku:Azerbaijan has accused France of maintaining a confrontational stance in their bilateral relations, following comments from French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot earlier this week.

According to Anadolu Agency, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, through spokesman Aykhan Hajizada, strongly condemned Barrot's remarks made during an Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) event. Hajizada stated that the French Minister's accusations against Azerbaijan demonstrate France's reluctance to abandon its confrontational rhetoric.

Hajizada refuted claims that Azerbaijan interferes in the affairs of New Caledonia and other French overseas territories, labeling these accusations as baseless. He suggested that presenting differing views as foreign interference detracts from the genuine concerns of those regions' populations.

Furthermore, Hajizada urged French officials to focus on democracy, human rights, and the rule of law within their own policies. He called on France to cease making unfounded allegations against Azerbaijan and to respect principles of mutual respect and non-interference in international relations.

As of now, French authorities have not responded to Hajizada's statements.
