Kabul: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged talks and negotiations Friday to end tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and cautioned against the use of force, according to Xinhua News.
According to Anadolu Agency,In a call with Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi at Kabul's request, Wang stated that issues between Afghanistan and Pakistan "can only be resolved through dialogue and consultation." He emphasized that the use of force would only complicate the situation, intensify contradictions, and threaten regional peace and stability, which would be detrimental to both nations.
The call followed Wang's earlier conversation with his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, on Tuesday, where he encouraged all parties to "return to the negotiating table as soon as possible."
Relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan have worsened in recent weeks, with escalating border tensions last month resulting in casualties and property damage. Pakistan asserts that it targets only terrorists and accuses Afghanistan of providing a haven for militants attacking its territory, an allegation that Kabul denies.
According to Pakistani Information Minister Tarar, Islamabad claims to have killed 663 Afghan Taliban operatives and militants, while Kabul asserts that 55 Pakistani soldiers have been killed, though these figures have not been independently verified.
