Medellin: The death toll from a landslide caused by heavy rain in Colombia on June 24 has risen to 22 on Friday, with eight people missing. A statement from the Antioquia governor's office confirmed that new bodies had been found in the Bello and Altos de Oriente areas of Medellin following the devastating landslide.

According to Anadolu Agency, the statement indicated that the number of fatalities had increased to 22, with efforts ongoing to locate the eight missing individuals. It highlighted the intensive search and rescue operations involving 391 personnel who are working tirelessly to recover bodies buried under the soil.

The statement further noted the peril faced by many homes built on sloped terrain, which are now classified as high-risk for landslides. The recent heavy rainfall, persisting since March, has led to significant loss of life and property in various regions across Colombia.
