While several police and customs officers have been detained, the law enforcement officials have seized a substantial amount of foreign currency, Turkish lira, and jewelry in the operations. Law enforcement officials in Hakkari, eastern Turkey, carried out a series of morning raids on multiple residences in the Yüksekova district and the town of Esendere, which serves as a crossing point between Turkey and Iran, Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reported.
The operations resulted in the apprehension of 31 individuals, including 8 customs officers stationed at the Esendere Border Customs Gate, 7 police officers, including a commissioner, and 16 civilians.
During the searches conducted at the Esendere Customs Directorate, a substantial amount of foreign currency, Turkish lira, and jewelry, believed to have been acquired through corrupt practices, were seized by authorities.
Furthermore, it has been reported that 6 individuals, who were subject to arrest warrants in connection with the investigation, were not located at their registered addresses.
The operations were conducted as part of an ongoing investigation led by the Yüksekova Chief Public Prosecutor's Office
