Paris: France's Minister for European Affairs Benjamin Haddad criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday following accusations directed at President Emmanuel Macron concerning antisemitism.

According to Anadolu Agency, Haddad emphasized that issues surrounding antisemitism should not be instrumentalized for political purposes. He asserted that France remains united and resolute in its fight against antisemitism, declaring that the nation has no lessons to learn in this regard. Haddad made these remarks during an interview with broadcaster BFM TV, highlighting that Macron and his government have consistently demonstrated commitment to combating antisemitism.

The tensions arose after Netanyahu accused Macron in a letter of fueling antisemitism in France. This accusation was linked to Macron's call for international recognition of Palestine. The letter, obtained by French media, also urged Macron to address antisemitism in France with a set deadline, coinciding with the Jewish New Year on September 23.

In response to these accusations, it was noted that Macron had announced in July that France would recognize Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly in September.
