Indonesian and Singaporean Leaders Pledge to Bolster Bilateral Cooperation.

Jakarta: Indonesia and Singapore on Wednesday vowed to enhance bilateral cooperation and further strengthen ties in different spheres, including trade, defense, and technology. This commitment was made during a meeting between Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto and visiting Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who arrived on his two-day official visit to Indonesia on Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Wong is the first foreign leader to visit Indonesia following Prabowo’s inauguration as president last month. Prabowo emphasized the significance of this visit as a stepping stone for improving cooperation in strategic sectors crucial for both nations. These sectors include defense, law, trade, investment, food security, energy, and human resource development, as highlighted in a transcript issued by the president’s office.

In addition to bilateral cooperation, the leaders addressed international concerns, notably the situation in the Middle East. Prabowo voiced concern over the ongoing violence in
Palestine and Lebanon and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities. The discussions also covered the crisis in Myanmar, with both leaders agreeing on the necessity of implementing the five points of consensus, particularly focusing on inclusive national dialogue and the provision of humanitarian aid.

Moreover, the dialogue between the two leaders explored potential bilateral cooperation in areas such as food security and technology transfer, highlighting the multifaceted approach both countries are adopting to strengthen their relations further.
