Tehran: Iran's deputy foreign minister announced on Wednesday that Iran and Oman have achieved preliminary understandings on almost all aspects concerning the future arrangements of the Strait of Hormuz. The official stated that a final understanding is "on the verge of being finalized."

According to Anadolu Agency, the agreement outlines the entry and exit routes for maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, as conveyed by Kazem Gharibabadi through Iran's state-run news agency IRNA. Despite the progress, Gharibabadi clarified that this understanding does not signify a complete opening of the Strait of Hormuz.

He described the agreement as introducing "a new and different model from the past 60-year practice." The discussions are set to enter a second phase, contingent upon Iran's assessment of the United States' readiness to return to its commitments.

The ongoing negotiations between Iran and Oman are also concentrated on establishing "future administration arrangements," which aim to create a long-term framework for managing the Strait of Hormuz.
