Iran: Iran's Foreign Ministry announced Thursday that recent US military actions have effectively nullified the ceasefire agreement established on April 8. The ministry warned that the United States would be held accountable for the resulting escalation in tensions.
According to Anadolu Agency, Iran's Foreign Ministry issued a strong statement condemning the US for its large-scale attacks, labeling them a 'blatant violation' of the UN Charter and fundamental international law principles. The ministry emphasized that these actions undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, rendering the ceasefire agreement ineffective.
The ministry also criticized certain regional countries for allowing US military forces to use their territory and facilities to launch attacks against Iran. It argued that such cooperation places these countries in alignment with aggressors. The statement urged all nations in the region to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities by preventing their resources from being used in attacks against Iran.
Iran reaffirmed its commitment to neutralizing sources of aggression and asserted its 'inherent right to self-defense' against US military actions and its allies. The ministry urged UN member states to openly oppose what it called violations of the UN Charter by the United States and Israel, warning that silence would lead to increased instability and insecurity.
The statement called on the UN Security Council and its members to uphold their duties in maintaining international peace and security. It also urged UN Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres to clearly address the ongoing situation. The ministry cautioned against issuing general or ambiguous statements, asserting that such actions could encourage further violations of international law.
