Moscow: Iran said on Wednesday that its enriched uranium was not part of the current negotiations with the US, according to the deputy secretary of the Supreme National Security Council. "This issue is not on the agenda of the negotiations," Ali Bagheri stated in remarks carried by Iran's semi-official news agency Fars.
According to Anadolu Agency, the comments were made on the sidelines of an international security conference in Moscow. The statement comes in response to recent remarks by US President Donald Trump, who on Monday suggested that Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium would be either transferred to the US for destruction or destroyed in place, or at another acceptable location.
The discussions are part of a broader diplomatic effort mediated by Pakistan to end the ongoing conflict that began with US and Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28, followed by Iranian retaliation. The focus of the talks remains on resolving the war, with the issue of enriched uranium explicitly excluded from the agenda.
