Iranian Foreign Minister Predicts Rising Oil Prices Amid Regional Tensions

Tehran: Oil prices are likely to continue rising, Iran's foreign minister stated on Friday, attributing this trend to actions by the United States and Israel. Abbas Araghchi conveyed these remarks during an interview with Anadolu at the pro-Palestinian Quds Day march in Tehran.

According to Anadolu Agency, Araghchi emphasized the impact of US and Israeli policies in the region as central to the anticipated increase in oil prices. He highlighted the widespread participation of the Iranian populace in pro-Palestinian demonstrations, describing their presence as "in the millions" despite ongoing US-Israeli attacks.

Araghchi further commented on the unified stance of Iranian cities in supporting Jerusalem, Palestine, and the long-held ideals of the Islamic Republic. He expressed hope that Iran would maintain its strength and resolve, compelling adversaries to acknowledge the Iranian people's resilience.

The escalation of hostilities follows joint attacks by Israel and the US on Iran, beginning February 28, resulting in the deaths of approximately 1,300 individuals, including former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran has executed drone and missile strikes on targets in Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations housing US military installations.

Additionally, since around March 1, Iran has effectively closed the crucial Strait of Hormuz, adding further strain to the region's geopolitical climate.
