Ankara: Missiles and drones rained down on Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain on Wednesday as Iran continued its retaliatory strikes against the ongoing US-Israeli attacks on the country.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Saudi Defense Ministry stated that air defenses intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile and 31 drones over the Eastern Province. The Civil Defense reported that debris from the intercepted missile fell on two homes, including one under construction, resulting in limited property damage. No casualties were reported from the incident.
In Kuwait, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation reported that drones targeted a fuel tank at Kuwait International Airport, sparking a fire. Initial assessments indicated that the attack caused only material damage. The National Guard of Kuwait announced that it had successfully shot down one drone and five unmanned aerial vehicles in the areas under its protection.
Meanwhile, in Bahrain, the Interior Ministry reported that warning sirens were sounded, although no further details were provided. Residents were advised to remain calm and move to the nearest safe location as a precautionary measure.
The regional escalation has continued to flare since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on February 28, which has resulted in over 1,340 casualties, including the death of then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and several Gulf countries hosting US military assets. These strikes have led to casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions in global markets and aviation.
